5 CPM Updates That Will Change the Way You Manage Activities and Track Goals featured image

Has your SAP® SuccessFactors® Continuous Performance Management (CPM) module looked differently lately? If you said yes, it’s probably because important changes have recently affected its functionality. Below, we’ve taken the time to provide you with a quick summary of some of the recent changes made to CPM and how they might affect your users’ experience.

Location of the Latest CPM Version

Previously, users could upgrade to the latest version of the module through the Admin Center in the configuration settings of CPM. With the recent update, this is no longer the case. Now, to upgrade to the Latest CPM version, users will need to do so through the Upgrade Center.

But be careful, as this is a one-way upgrade. You will NOT be able to revert to the previous version once completed.

 

Coaching Advice has Officially Sunset

In addition to the location of the Latest CPM version, some other updates have impacted the module’s functionality. The Coaching Advice feature has now officially been retired and is not supported once you upgrade your system to the Latest version.

So before upgrading to the latest version, make sure you have considered how the change might affect users who frequently relied on Coaching Advice and notify them accordingly.

 

Link Activities to Development Goals

Users can now link activities directly to development goals.

Linking activities directly to development goals not only helps employees keep better track of what they are working for, but it helps them ensure that their work is meaningfully aligned to both personal and corporate-wide objectives.

Introducing the Multiple Role Support Feature

The new Multiple Role Support feature has been introduced. This enhancement allows users to invite another user to their channel. The user will in turn be able to see these activities in a meeting view. It’s important to note that even with this feature enabled, users can’t invite themselves or their direct managers (since they’re already part of the standard functionality). Users also cannot invite their direct reports to the channel.

Request and Provide Feedback

Another gap from the 2020 H2 release update that has been closed revolves around the ability to request and provide feedback. Now, users have access to a new menu item in the home navigation for Continuous Feedback. The new menu includes a list of three standard questions that can be edited whether requesting Feedback or Giving Feedback.

 

Looking Ahead

Going forward, we encourage you to keep an eye out for updates that allow users to upload attachments for an open activity or an activity tagged as an achievement. The addition of this function is included in the CPM roadmap.
