Frequently Asked Questions and Answers about SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking
SAP SuccessFactors announced the release of its Time Tracking solution in January. We spoke with Amy Wilson, SVP of products and design at SAP SuccessFactors, about the new tool at that time, and you should be sure to read the resulting post if you need more background on how SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking works. As a follow-up, we recently sent over a list of frequently asked questions about the Time Tracking tool from Rizing customers and our Time and Attendance team.
To begin, here’s a peek at what the new solution looks like. It has a nice, neat user-friendly interface. What follows are some of the questions we have received and the answers the SAP SuccessFactors’ team provided.
Here are those questions, with answers from the SAP SuccessFactors product team:
Will Time Tracking allow the employee the opportunity to earn based on multiple rates/job variables, or is the employee base rate in SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central (EC) the single denominator of earning?
It’s currently possible in EC to pay employees at different hourly rates, based on specific rules (overtime, nights, weekends, etc.). Concurrent employees would have two timesheets and two time off accounts, as they would have two users in the system. In which case, rules would be configured for each “employment.”
Will time off accruals be able to be calculated based on actual worked time?
Yes, customers can use the actual hours or days to calculate an employee’s accrual amount.
Can SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking calculate Gross Pay calculations?
Yes, just as it is done currently in EC Time Sheet, There’s no loss in functionality between the legacy time tracking and this modern version.
Is there an export to SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP) that is specific to SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking?
There is full integration to ECP from EC and Time Tracking. So, customers do not have to export and import time to process payroll.
What is the Artificial Intelligence (AI) capability in SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking?
AI is on the roadmap. Editor’s note: You can find the complete roadmap in SAP’s Roadmap Explorer with an S-User ID A digital assistant will be in beta release Q4 2021 featuring expanded tasks for users relative to payslip capabilities.
Are the Scheduling features improved, or is basic scheduling within timesheets the solution that will be launched?
Basic scheduling is covered within the application, with the primary purpose to calculate people’s (shift) pay. Per H1 2021 we plan to release a service that allows SAP S/4HANA applications to perform shift planning. This service communicates when people work and/or are absent (incl. public holiday info). If customers use other tools than the S/4HANA planning tool, they can use our new integration capabilities to communicate shift planning outcomes into EC Time for accrual calculations and as input for timesheet (and time evaluation). Also, on our future roadmap, we plan to deliver the ability to dynamically appoint a shift based on a registered clock in punch. This allows customers to correctly calculate (shift) pay.
