The preview release of the Q3 2019 SAP SuccessFactors update arrives on August 9, with those updates going live into production on September 6. SAP provides release notes four weeks prior to the preview, so customers know what to expect before it hits their systems.

Each quarter, we dig into release highlights and analysis of the latest SAP SuccessFactors update. If you are looking to catch up, you can see Q2 highlights around mobile and time attendance management, along with links to more in-depth analysis on Q2 enhancements to a variety of modules.

We’ll provide that same analysis for Q3 in the coming weeks. For now, let’s look at release highlights for Employee Central Time and Attendance for SAP’s third release of 2019.

First, important news for those of you that are still using the old (non-Fiori) user interface for Time Off—that will no longer be possible. It will now be mandatory to use Fiori UI for Time Off, meaning you will no longer be able to opt out for the old UI version.

As SAP integrates SuccessFactors into its broader Intelligent Enterprise vision—it is the heart, after all, expect more UI transitions. SAP plans to unify user experiences across all of its products.

For the admin experience, admin alerts for Time Management will now be accessed via the Admin Alerts 2.0 feature, which will appear as a separate tile in the admin center. This enhancement is available via admin opt-in.

Other updates to Time and Attendance include a cleanup service for time sheets that deals with managing the data around terminated employees—that will be universal for all customers. Additionally, there’s a new permission available that can enable recurring absences for some employees, and disable the feature for others. That can be accessed via admin opt-in.

Mobile Updates for SuccessFactors Time and Attendance

On the mobile side, the Android version of the SuccessFactors mobile app continues its move towards feature parity with the iOS app by gaining time sheet approval functionality for managers. This was previously available in iOS.

In both Android and iOS apps, users will be able to add notes when submitting their time sheets. Approvers can view the notes and add comments when approving or rejecting the request.
