The first SAP® SuccessFactors® release of 2019 went into preview on March 8. We have already provided an overview of major highlights in the update, but now we are going to take some time to examine more detailed information on updates in Recruiting and Onboarding.
The preview release allows customers the chance to test out new features before they officially go live in the system on the production date. Each preview of SAP SuccessFactors quarterly updates comes about one month before the production, which is April 5 for this quarter.
Let’s look at the enhancements in SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting and Onboarding.
Recruiting
Mass Resume Upload: Recruiters can now mass upload up to 100 resumes and have the system automatically parse those resumes to create candidate profiles (word, txt, pdf, image formats).
How to turn it on: Via Admin Center Opt-in.
Bulk Create Candidates: Recruiters can now upload a CSV file with candidate data (1000 candidates per file) and have the system automatically create candidate profiles. Candidates can be found via the batch name.
How to turn it on: Via Admin Center Opt-in.
Master Data and Candidate Profile: This provides additional support for defining custom Metadata Framework objects and uses them along with standard Generic and Foundational Objects. The update helps brings HR Master Data to the Job Requisition and Job Offer Approval.
How to turn it on: Via Admin Center Opt-in.
New Agency Portal (BETA): The new Agency Portal will replace the current Agency Solution. It will provide the same set of existing functionalities with a new UI design. The current Agency Solution will be active until the universal switch in Q3 2019. The move will NOT require any re-implementation activities.
How to turn it on: Provisioning Opt-in.
Internal Career Site: This is the consolidation of the internal candidate experience with the external candidate career site into a single consistent career site experience.
How to turn it on: Provisioning Opt-in.
Recruiting Posting (part 1): In the “Job Field Mapping” tile, system administrators can define which job requisition field(s) will prepopulate the job posting field(s) and custom operations (split operations – autofill value).
How to turn it on: Via Admin Center Opt-in.
Recruiting posting (part 2): In addition to the job posting field available, system administrators can now map their job requisition field(s) to multiple job posting fields. Before, system administrators were able to map 40% of the job posting form on average, and per job board. As of Q1 2019 the average increased to 85%.
How to turn it on: Via Admin Center Opt-in.
Recruiting Posting (part 3): School job boards could require several configurations. In the “Manage my school job boards” tile, system administrators can now create different configurations and provide their credentials for each type of school.
How to turn it on: Via Admin Center Opt-in.
What’s going away:

- Military Jobs Transcoders in Q2 2019
- WebFocus by end of 2019
- Agency portal to new Agency Portal in Q3 2019
- Recruiting Dashboard in Recruiting Marketing by end of 2019
Onboarding
Onboarding 2.0 Crossboarding: This improves crossboarding from Employee Central in order to efficiently and effectively make employees transition to new roles. For example: Modification to job or compensation information triggers crossboarding and a transfer event is created.
How to turn it on: Go to Onboarding – Admin Opt-in.
Task Archival: Provides the opportunity to archive tasks on the dashboard that might never be completed. Business rules are required (default value is 90 days).
How to turn it on: Onboarding 2.0 (prerequisite)
Participant Assignment: This feature allows the configuration of responsibility groups in order to assist the hiring manager with onboardee data review. Business rules can be assigned to the responsibility group.
How to turn it on: Onboarding 2.0 (prerequisite)
N1 Hiring Manager: N1 hiring manager activities will continue to work. However, there will be no new enhancements on notifications, and N1 hiring manager activities will no longer be supported. We recommend all customers still using N1 hiring manager activities to migrate to the Metadata Framework.
