More Q3 Analysis: SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Core HR
The preview release allows customers the chance to test out new features before they officially go live in the system on the production date. Each preview of SAP SuccessFactors quarterly updates comes about one month before the production, which is September 6 for this quarter.
Let’s look at the major enhancements in SAP SuccessFactors Mobile for Q3 2019—it’s important to note that mobile updates come monthly, rather than quarterly.
May, June, & July
Create Achievement & Activities based on Learning Courses—Android: This feature integrates Learning and Continuous Performance Management (CPM) and seeks to improve the user experience by removing the need to navigate between CPM and Learning tabs, as well as reducing manual data entry. The update allows users to do the following:
- Create CPM Activities from the item details screen of Learning items added to My Assignments
- Prompt user to create a CPM Activity when assigning an item from Learning Catalog
- Delete CPM Activities created from Learning Assignments if the employee removes the learning assignment
- Create CPM Achievements from the history details screen of successfully completed Learning items
- From CPM Activity & Achievement screens, display that the activity and/or achievement has been created via a Learning item
How to turn it on: This is a universal update.
Time Sheet Approval—Android: Managers on Android devices will now be able to approve, delegate, and decline time sheets.

View Sent Feedback Requests and Status—iOS & Android: In order to help employees and managers keep track of requests and follow up as needed, two features have been added:
- Employees can now view feedback requests they have sent along with their corresponding status
- Managers can view feedback request they have sent for their direct reports from Director’s Report CPM or My Employee Profile.

August & September
Redesign of Mobile Content Structure Page—iOS: The Learning Content Structure page will now have a mobile-specific interface, rather than sharing one with the desktop version. Initially, the following situations will not be supported and users will continue to see the existing page: Blended items, Content created using SCORM 2004 2nd and 4th edition, Commerce Courses (except courses purchased via web or with distributed charges), Courses with eSig, External users, and for users without catalog access.
To take advantage of this enhancement, turn on the Mobile Native Content Structure via Learning Administration > System Admin > Configuration > System Configuration > Mobile > Mobile Native Content Structure (enableMobileNativeContentStructure).
How to turn it on: Admin Center Opt-In.
Job Requisition Approval—iOS: This Recruiting feature will give Managers the ability to approve, delegate, and decline job requisitions.
How to turn it on: This is a universal update.
Disable Device Activation while Proxying—iOS & Android: This new security functionality allows administrators to control which users have access to set up a profile other than their own on the mobile app by disabling device activation while proxying (through Proxy Management settings).
How to turn it on: This is a universal update.
