The preview release allows customers the chance to test out new features before they officially go live in the system on the production date. Each preview of SAP SuccessFactors quarterly updates comes about one month before the production, which is September 6 for this quarter.
Let’s look at the major enhancements for Q3 2019 in SAP SuccessFactors Development, Succession, and Calibration.
Career Development and Monitoring
Enhanced performance and behavior on Matches/Not Matched pages: This enables the first 200 matches or 500 participants to display automatically. Those mentors or mentees not shown can now be found by name or through a filtered list. Previously when there were too many matches results, none would be displayed.
How to turn this on: This is a universal update.
Autosaves on Matches Tab: Admin changes on the Matches/Not Matched Tab will be saved immediately and reflected in the user interface in real time. The “Cancel” and “Save” buttons will be removed. This is not applicable for all mentoring types.
How to turn it on: This is a universal update.
Search result limit in the Assign Mentor/Mentee popup: No more than 200 results will be displayed, and a refined search will be required for search results that exceed 200. This is meant to enhance performance of the system by avoid displaying overly large popup windows.
How to turn it on: This is a universal update.
Limit supervised mentoring program size: This update allows the Create Program wizard to validate the number of invitees (mentors and mentees) and prevents the saving and launching of a program with too many invitees. This is meant to prevent users from configuring a program that will not be successfully supported by the tool.
How to turn it on: This is a universal update.
Succession Planning
Consistent sorting of successors per position in position card/position tile between Succession and Presentations: This will provide a consistent experience for end users in Succession and Presentations.
How to turn it on: This is a universal update.
Consistent successor sorting across all SCM pages including SOC, Lineage Chart and Position Tile: Whichever sort setting has been configured for Succession in Nominations setup in Admin Center, and/or in SOC Personal settings, will be applied in SOC, Lineage Chart and Position Tile.
How to turn it on: This is a universal update.
Add/Edit options in Calibration and Presentation talent card: This makes the add/edit position nomination behavior consistent for all talent cards.
How to turn it on: This is a universal update.
Succession v12/Fiori UI updated to reflect “Display position title instead of user title” behavior option: The v12/Fiori Succession UIs previously did not have this feature, which allows customers to simply use the user tiles on all succession screens and filling in positing titles when importing positions.
How to turn it on: This is a universal update.
Show “Position Set up” page only if customer is using legacy position based nomination Method: Only if customer has configured legacy position-based nomination, rather than role-person or MDF position, and also ‘Position Set up’ permission has been granted, then the link is visible and thus users can access ‘Position Management: Position Set up’ via Admin Center.
This is to avoid confusing users who could not make use of the tool.
How to turn it on: This is a universal update.
Talent Search: Support “export all” without having to scroll: In Talent Search the “Export All” function allows users to export all available matching results into the export file, regardless to where the user has scrolled in the list of results. Previously users had to scroll all the way to the end of the list to export all results.
How to turn it on: This is a universal update.
Check to coordinate the readiness settings in Admin Rating Scale and Provisioning Org Chart XML Configuration: This allows users who do not have access to XML configurations to self-diagnose issues with readiness settings.
How to turn it on: This is a universal update.
Calibration
Mass Actions: Mass Finalization: It is now possible to bulk finalize calibration sessions on the session list page. Sessions to be finalized will be validated for status and permissions. After they are finalized, the user can choose to continue to send email or not. Note: In this version, the tool only supports 25 sessions to be finalized at one time, for performance.
How to turn it on: This is a universal update.
Support for opening the Talent Card from List and Bin views: Support for opening the Talent Card from List and Bin views. This provides a consistent experience for users navigating to the employee Talent Card from either list and bin views or within the calibration session.
How to turn it on: This is a universal update.
Add/ Edit nomination in calibration talent card: Users can now add or edit nominations in the Nominations section on calibration talent cards. Previously, this was only possible from the Succession talent card.
