Even though we can’t be together at SuccessConnect this year, there is plenty to be excited for SAP SuccessFactors’ biggest event of the year – here are 5 reasons straight from SAP.

But, one of the main attractions, if you ask us, is how accessible and inclusive SuccessConnect is as an online virtual event – allowing everyone to network and learn from each other even more.

So, to help you make the most out of this shared virtual experience, here are 8 tips for you to maximize SuccessConnect 2020.

1. Follow SAP on All Channels

In a time when we have to be physically distant, social media has allowed us to stay just as, if not more connected. And, if anything goes array during the event, social media will keep you in the know immediately.

We’ll make it easy for you to join the conversation. The must-follow accounts are:

  • SAP SuccessFactors LinkedIn (@SAP SuccessFactors)
  • SAP SuccessFactors Twitter (@SuccessFactors)
  • SAP SuccessFactors Facebook (@successfactors)
  • SAP SuccessFactors Instagram (@sapsuccessfactors)

And the can’t-miss hashtags are:

  • #SuccessConnect
  • #HXM

If you really want to go above and beyond, you can follow some of the SAP SuccessFactors customers, executives, and thought leaders listed to speak on the SuccessConnect event page.

Of course, we’ll also be online and ready to connect with you. So, be sure to follow us as we’ll be sharing content all day long.

2. Make a Plan

Virtual SuccessConnect may only be a day-long, but there’s still work deadlines to meet. That’s why we suggest creating an action plan beforehand… so that you can get the best of the event without falling too far behind on your day-to-day work for when you “return”.

You can either build your plan on your own or by using SuccessConnect’s Agenda Builder tool. We think it’s pretty cool and you can find it when you log into the event:

If you decide to build your plan on your own, base it around live sessions or sessions where you know you’ll want to directly engage in. That way, you can watch the recorded sessions at a later time – but don’t forget to actually go back and do so.

Building the plan might take a little bit of work. But in the end, it’ll make sure you give yourself the chance to go all-in on the sessions you’re participating in during the event.

3. Register in Advance for Events with Attendee Limits

Speaking of plans, here’s something super important we’d like to point out: even though the event is online, certain sessions will have attendee limits.

For example, SuccessConnect’s Hands-on Labs will have a 300-person limit and Meet the Product Experts and Customer Roundtables are “seated” on a first-come-first-serve basis.

So, make sure you’ve secured your seat.

4. Block-off Your Calendar

When it comes to multitasking, we’re all big fans. But, there’s something to be said about being present in the moment.

We know it won’t be easy to resist the temptation to work on something while you listen in… But trust us, you’ll get much more value from the virtual event if you block off time in your calendars to truly listen, learn, and network with your peers.

Besides, you only need to block off one day this year, instead of a full week.

5. Participate and Network

More and more these days, we are learning that every voice matters. So, make sure you’re actively participating during SuccessConnect this year. That means retweeting posts, commenting on videos, asking questions, sharing your opinions on different platforms…well, you get it.

As much as participation counts, one of the biggest attractions of an event is networking and building relationships. We believe that a virtual event multiplies this benefit by ten – since it makes things more accessible, inclusive, and diverse. So, as you keep an eye out for different virtual social events, use this opportunity to broaden the connections you make with people in your industry.

Keep in mind that not all of the social events may be run by the event organizers – check out sponsors’ and partners’ websites and social media channels to see if they have anything planned.

6. Make it Fun

Just because you’re alone in your home office, doesn’t mean you have to show up solo to a virtual event as well! In times like this, it’s important to keep things fun – especially at work (since that seems to be the bulk of our social interaction these days).

By scheduling viewing parties or debriefing sessions with your colleagues throughout the event, you can share your thoughts, learn from others, and be more inspired to pay attention in the first place.

7. Keep your Family in the Loop

Some of us are living with family members right now. If this is you, don’t forget about them.

Let those you live with know that you have an event coming up. You might tape a sign up on your home office door as a reminder (we’re big fans of a traffic light – red means stop, green means come on it).

Building any at-home-responsibilities you need to fulfill into your prioritized viewing plan will also help you preserve the work-from-home routine you’ve spent so many months perfecting.

8. Follow Up with Speakers, Colleagues, and Rizing

Don’t forget the best part of any event – the afterparty! Have some follow-up chats with different people after attending the event – online of course. You can ask your colleagues what they thought about it or reach out to some of the speakers to congratulate or thank them for a great session. And, if you have any questions about something you heard at SuccessConnect, you can always reach out to your friends at Rizing.

Happy SuccessConnect!
